Bunge Loders Croklaan (IOI Loders Croklaan at the time) committed to participate in a Global Shea Alliance warehouse project. Together with partnering companies we sponsored the construction of a warehouse in Apebikum (district of Bolga – Upper East region of Ghana).
Beneficiaries of the warehouse project are the Apemko women from four local communities. The purpose of the project is to construct and donate a warehouse to these women, in order to increase their means of existence. The warehouse gives them the possibility to store kernels; by doing so, they have the possibility to sell larger quantities and earn more per kilo.
Additionally, the warehouse can generate additional income by renting it out to store other crops off-season.
